What Would Be the Possible Colour Results?

Postby AussieParrots on Fri Dec 25, 2009 6:53 pm

I tried using the genetic calculator, but I'm definitely doing it wrong.

What possible phenotypes would result from these pairings:

pastel blue lacewing x pastel blue lacewing

pastel blue lacewing (hen) x blue lacewing (cock)

What other mutations would blend well with the pastel blue (hen) or the blue lacewing (cock)?

Any information - or pointing me to a site for help - would be greatly appreciated!

pastel blue lacewing x pastel blue lacewing = most probably, pastel blue lacewing

pastel blue lacewing (hen) x blue lacewing (cock) = blue lacewing, unless the cock is split to pastel

My biggest concern is that your birds might already be quite inbred. The most logical way to outcross
might be to use large healthy birds within the blue series, so you would avoid producing the less-valuable normal greens. Otherwise, your breeding program could get out of hand .
