Bird Diet Poll

Postby bspahr@fuse.net on Sat Mar 22, 2008 1:38 pm

Hello All,

I work for a bird and small animal food company and was wondering if I can get your help? I am trying to help this company to produce better and healthier diets that consumers are looking for. I would like to find out what you look for in a diet for your birds. Any info you can give me will help such as:

1. What kind of bird do you have?
2. Do you feed pellets, seed, or both and brands
3. What protein and fat levels do you want
4. What influences you to buy your food: brand, color, texture, high or low amount of sunflower seeds, peanuts, oats, millet,etc...
5. Do you look for specific types of nuts, fruit, veggies, etc.

Also if anyone owns small animals such as rabbits, guinea pigs, etc.. I would love your opinion on what you look for in their foods.

Anything else you can think of would be greatly appreciated!

Thank you to everyone in advance! Thank you UPATSIX!!

Please reply here or PM me!!

Hi, I have two rabbits. I look for no fatty seeds, don't like the the ones with all the seed because my buns would only eat the seed. I like high fiber, timothy based, low protein levels. When i feed my buns tomorrow, i will tell you the exact amount of protein and fiber wanted. Would like to see a food with dried rose petals or basil leaves in it. Even if it were more expensive, i would buy it.

I think the kaytee exact is the brand i don't like. Just remember, the more fiber, the more better. Because rabbits eat only hay, the pellets should be just that but in different form. Hope this helps. Bird food would be no food dyes or weird smell.

I feed both seed and pellets (Zupreem fruit). I don't like a food with lots of food color (I tried the natural) but my birds love the fruit best.. The same goes for my dogs and cats....no food colors if I can help it. It can't be good if your pet poops the color of the food...yuck....just my opinion.

Also in the seed mix I like to choose one with lots of nuts.....my birds LOVE nuts.
