Orange Wing male

Postby Angieb on Mon Feb 08, 2010 9:02 am

We are currently on a mission to get a male Orange Wing Amazon. Ours died over 2 months ago and I cannot find a solitary male that is DNA sexed, banded and between 2 and 5 years old. We know they exist but don't really want to purchase a baby. Have contacted the Amazon society, many many rescues and everyone says they don't have any. Does anyone know if there are any around or are people just not breeding them? I find it hard to believe their are no young males around.

It would help to know where you are located because some people, like myself, do not ship birds. However, I have an orange wing amazon that we believe is a male, but I do not know for sure. It has not been DNA tested. I do no the bird will be 2 years old in May 2010. We are located in Northwest Florida panhandle.

Sorry. As I said I have never done this before in my previous e mail. Please read that one also for the info that I included. We are in Rochester, NY and have many friends that go back and forth from Florida. We would not want the bird shipped either because we have heard too many horror stories. There is also the option that I could pick it up. Have done that in the past to purchase other birds. However we need the DNA sex and need to know if you hatched it and the band number etc. Also please send me pics. We are very seriously into our birds and would do hundreds of dollars of testing and the proper quarantine before introducing it into our large flock. We have very valuable birds and treat them like our children. What city are you in and what is the nearest airport?

    Thank you,
    Angie

We are in Rochester, NY. Our computer has been down for 4 days so I just got this. Are you willing to sex the bird and how much are you asking? Can you send a pic please or call me @ 585-225-7414?
    Thank you,

I have an oranged wing, female. She is five years old! We LOVE her to death! Of course, tolerate her screaming at 3pm! She is in love with my Sunconure! They now live together. How weird is that? Nancy
