Were you able to find anything on Google? I know there's that Womach guy, who purportedly an expert in everything, but I was referred to him as an actually decent source on various kinds of bird training. Sometimes he has free videos. I'm new to this, but I never know when something I've said (or sounds that I've made, unfortunately) are going to suddenly pop out of my guy, so that gives me the impression they are listening more than they think.

I've also thought about contacting some of the people who have got talking birds on YouTube, to see if they will share info. There's an Amazon, in Florida, I think, who sings all kinds of songs.

Chet Womach. Many people rave about him. However, many professional animal trainers do not agree with his techniques, since it's about "flooding" - which can lead to "learned helplessness." Chet and Dave Womach do however seem to be going more into possitive training, but there are still warnings or at least cautions about their material.

Personally, I'm not a fan of their advertisement techniques.

I agree about Womach, but not having as much exposure to other possibilities. I question anyone who's an expert on everything from bird training to investments. And I think he's terribly annoying.

On the topic of training, I bought the foraging video by Echols, and those foraging boxes, which Paco has shown zero interest in. Is it really as slow a process as I'm reading it can be? I office mate has one of the messiest desks I've ever seen, and he does love to walk all over her desk and rummage, especially for change. He like pennies, especially. Can I get something like a giant box lid and just put all kinds of things (safe, of course) in it for him to walk around in, and gradually add treats/food, etc?

For training, look into Barbara Heidenreich. www.goodbirdinc.com. Many people speak highly about her methods.

What I sometimes do for a quick foraging toy, is throw a nut in a brown paper sack, crumble it and let them have at it. It takes them a while to get the concept down, but once they do, they will hunt thru anything you put in their cage, just incase there is a new treat for them. For the ones new to this game, I will put the nut/treat into the bag in front of them so they can know it's in there. This will strike an interest for them to approach the game. For the more mechanically inclined toos, I will put a peanut into a clean, empty 20oz plastic soda bottle, and tighten the top as hard as possible. Some birds will open it in a heartbeat, and some will take a while.

On the Womach's. I had junkmail from them for over a yr when I downloaded their free video. I've never seen any of the videos they sell, I've only heard other peoples opinion.

Thank you! All I recognized was Porter's enrichment/activity books. Paco seems to have fun watching me make stuff, then won't go near it. I really want him to learn how to keep himself entertained. Even if my toys don't come out looking as pretty as the pictures....

    Happy reading to me!!
