With your list of desired characteristics, you definitely need a bird who is already sexually mature and showing its mature personality, and you'll probably need a female to get affection since most people mean hands-on contact when they speak of affectionate birds. I recommend a lilac-crowned 'zon, female and at least 5 years old. If you're willing to consider a bird other than a 'zon or grey, I think a male quaker could be perfect for you if they are allowed in your state. Again, you'll want one who is sexually mature. That would happen about age 2-3 for a quaker.
There are many 'zons and quakers available for adoption. Because greys are so popular, many of those who are available for adoption are either feather pluckers or fear biters. If this is your first bird, those conditions might be difficult for you to work with.
Please read everything you can find before making your decision. These birds can live long decades and deserve a lifetime commitment, even if they decide to quit talking.
