: I am thinking about buying a Cockatoo. The pet store says that the best thing to do is order one and hand feed it, but in a book it says that you should never handfeed a bird, because it causes behavior problems. Im not sure if I should buy one already handfed or handfeed it myself. PLEASE HELP.

Angela,
I would never buy or sell an unweaned parrot. This is the easy way out for the pet shop/breeder. They get their money and you get full responsbility for any problems that occur immediately after you leave the store/place of purchase. No one will guarantee the health/survival of an unweaned baby. This is why mine are never sold unweaned.
