: I have a female and male cockatiel bird they over about a 1 1/2 old. They have been mating for a while now and just about two days ago the female has been very quiet hasn't been acting herself. She sits in a corner of the cage and doesn't do anything. I was wondering if you could tell what was wrong with her. I don't she is going to live much longer because of the way she is acting and don't think she has been eating a lot. So if you could please get back to me as soon as possible I would be greatful. Thanks

Vicky,
Sounds like your hen is eggbound and she will need medical attention IMMEDIATELY if she is going to survive. Very basically, she can't pass an egg and the egg has blocked the cloaca so she can't eliminate. Without medical attention, she will die from toxic poisoning. If you have an emergency clinic near you, call them NOW! In the meantime, you need to keep her quiet and very warm (90F).

Please let me know what happens.
