I have read these on the internet so far:
"It is very difficult to visually sex a Lutino cockateil. Often on mature female Lutinos there will be a barring on the underside of the tail feathers which can be viewed in front of a bright light."
"Lutinos can be visually sexed since the females will have the same bright yellow spots under the flight feathers and their tails will show a yellow on cream or cream on yellow barring pattern. Males are sexed by the absence of these traits."
I just took a vacation to Daytona Beach Fla. and I brought home a baby Lutino. I wanted a male so that it will talk. They told me that they didn't know if it was male or female. When I look under the feathers I see a spec of orange the same as on the cheeks. Is that the bright yellow spots mentioned above? And, exactly what does barring look like? What am I looking for? Does anyone know of links with pics of what I am looking for? And can you only sex a Lutino when it is an adult or can you when they are babys?
He/she also is fluffing her feathers alot. Does this mean he/she is sick or cold or just because he/she is in a new invironment?
Any help in this matter would be highly appreciated!
Thanks
Lori
