: hello, how do i tell if my lovebirds are male or female, what is sexual demorphisn? thanks

Sexual dimophism is when the male and female are differently colored. Cardinals are dimorphic: he's brilliant red, she's muted reddish brown. You can see the difference just by looking. With lovebirds, there are 3 species that are dimorphic: Abyssinian, Madagascar and Red Face.

The only way to sex lovebirds that are not dimorphic is DNA sexing. If you have mature lovebirds and the female lays an egg, that's obvious but with young birds, it's almost impossible to tell without testing.
